Summer 2016

filtering metalloid contaminants using iron-treated zeolites

New Mexico State University, PI/Mentor: Dr. Lambis Papelis

In 2016, I participated in the Summer Community College Opportunity for Research Experience (SCCORE) program through Central New Mexico Community College. This marked my first foray into research and proved to be a pivotal moment in my academic journey.

Despite having no prior college-level chemistry experience, I quickly immersed myself in the project. I learned about zeolites, their chemical structure, and their potential applications in water filtration.

This brief, four-week internship ignited my passion for scientific research and laid the foundation for my future academic pursuits.
